Pedro is the true story of gay activist Pedro Zamora who in 1994 became the first openly gay HIV positive man on television when he appeared on MTV’s The Real World. The Cuban-American actor became the human face of the AIDS crisis in the San Francisco series. President Bill Clinton credited Zamora with humanizing those with the disease.

Zamora found out he was HIV positive at the age of 17; he then made it his mission in his short life to speak out about the disease until his death at the age of 22. Alex Loynaz stars as Zamora in a story written by Oscar winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk).
